Introduction
Last week was a painful one for the crypto market. Bitcoin and Ethereum prices took a big hit, while smaller-cap tokens fared even worse. Many coins are now down more than 50% from their all-time highs seen in November.
Luckily this is Developer DAO, not Trader DAO. :) The media uses short-term prices as a barometer for value creation, while hype and price pumps excite speculators. In contrast, we at Developer DAO are excited by the real, game-changing technology that underpins cryptocurrencies and Web3. Bull or bear market, devs keep their heads down and buidl.
At Developer DAO, we are still making progress across initiatives as we near the start of Season 1. Keep reading for updates about all the hard work being done across the DAO. But remember, it’s… Probably Nothing.
A Word from our Sponsor
NFT.Storage helps NFT developers today who are looking for easy APIs and best practices for storing their NFT data securely and resiliently. Even in the short-term, it is a trustless and decentralized solution. Users are able to cryptographically verify that the content identifiers that the service provides corresponds to their data, and that this data is hosted in multiple ways across the IPFS and Filecoin networks (allowing for accessibility across the network and preventing lock-in, with users also able to pin their data elsewhere to increase redundancy). Store your NFTs for free today!
This Week
Code of Conduct and Handling Violations
We’re working on establishing a Code of Conduct for the DAO, so that when violations are reported, there is a credibly neutral process for handling them. Please do weigh in via a new public channel #code-of-conduct-and-violation-process. Diverse input is important to reach inclusive outcomes!
A reminder that until the new Code of Conduct has been established, you can use this anonymous form to report behavior that violates the current rules.
Update on $CODE
Work on D_D’s governance token continues, with one last amendment expected before launch. Meanwhile, the $CODE claim website is being co-developed by the dev & design guilds, and you can check progress in the #code-claim-site channel. Keep an eye out for an announcement about submitting your name and contributions for the early contributor rewards process.
LexDAO Externs
If you’re interested in the legal landscape of web3 and would like to be trained as an extern, i.e., a person with an understanding of legal duties to be shared with other DAOs, join our friends over in the LexDAO Discord and reach out to Lawrence (DAO entities, market artifacts, wallets) @drllau#2628, James (real-world asset dematerialization) @josephit#2845, or Jordan (on-chain dispute resolution, litigation) @jordan_t#1507.

Governance
New Initiatives / Announcements
With the Governance token in sight, an update to the proposal process will be required. Work on this new process is underway.

Existing Project Updates
The proposed External Delegate Committee continues to make progress after receiving feedback from DAO members. You can read about the External Proposal Delegation Process here.
Help Needed
There are many known shortcomings to token governance and work is required to ensure our DAO is governed effectively and efficiently. Please join the Governance Guild weekly meetings and Discord channels to help craft the D_D governance mechanisms post-token launch.
