Introduction
Happy New Year frens! We hope these last 2 weeks have enabled you to rest and recharge and if you celebrated any of the festivities, that you were able to do so with your loved ones. 2021 was an incredible year for blockchain technology and Web3 and 2022 looks to be just as exciting!
Since many Developer DAO members are just emerging from the holiday haze, we thought we would issue a “lite” version of the newsletter this week. The Guilds and DAO projects are slowly starting to ramp up again but while we were away, there were a few notable highlights. In particular, our governance token is getting closer to launch and a new Product Guild concept is up for debate. There are a few important discussions being held over on the forum, not to mention all the madness happening in the rest of the ecosystem!
If you’re just as eager to get back into it as we are, then let this newsletter be your guide. As always, we strive to cut through the noise and deliver value directly to your inbox.
Welcome back everyone! We’re here to help build the future and it sure looks promising.
Then again… it’s Probably Nothing.
This Week
Official Governance Token Proposal
We’re a step closer to the launch of our Governance Token - $CODE! After a successful Request For Feedback, where we saw a lot of discussion around how the token drop should be handled, the next step in the process has been initiated. An official Governance Token Proposal has been submitted to the forum. For D_D members, now is your chance to have your say on whether or not the proposal moves to a snapshot vote. Again, to summarize the Token Distribution:
There will be 10,000,000 $CODE tokens at issuance
50% to the Developer DAO Treasury
25% to current members
10% to founding team and advisors
10% to early contributors
5% to partners
So far there have been over 500 voters with an astounding 98% in favor of moving to snapshot. You’ll be able to cast your vote over the next week and since things are just starting to get going again in the DAO, a hard deadline wasn’t set. The wider tech community has been vocal about wanting to get involved with D_D and we are excited to soon be able to admit new members!
Product Guild - Request For Feedback
As you may have heard through various discussions around the DAO, a new guild is being proposed to oversee the ideation, discovery, and delivery of Developer DAO-branded products. The Product Guild intends to help focus product, design, and development efforts, align projects with D_D values, and ship quality products and public goods. To move things forward, a Request For Feedback has been submitted and is now open for discourse.
Join The Conversation
With the launch of our $CODE token fast approaching – which will enable us to grant access to new members – a few important points are up for debate by members:
Should the original Devs For Revolution NFT continue to give access to the Discord server?
How should we handle the edge case of users who have wallet addresses that have been compromised?
Community feedback on these topics is valued. Each is open to discussion on the forum which include unofficial polls to gauge the community’s general thoughts.
Welcome New Moderators!
You may have noticed some DAO members’ names now appearing in a blue font. This represents them being given the role of moderator for the Discord! The previous moderators have graciously passed the baton onto more active members who were nominated by the Guild Leaders. If you have any questions or concerns, moderators are here to provide assistance, as well as keep the Discord a warm, inviting, and productive environment. Welcome new moderators! And thank you for accepting the responsibility!

Airdrop SZN: Possibly starting a trend, two notable airdrops happened over the holiday: OpenDAO dropped $SOS to Opensea users, and GasDAO dropped $GAS to wallets that have paid relatively large amounts in Ethereum gas fees since the launch of the network. As of publication, users can still claim both tokens.

Closing Words
That concludes this issue of Probably Nothing! The DAO is gearing up again and we can’t wait to see all the innovation continue through an already successful Season 0. Hello, 2022! We’re still here to buidl, ship, and make frens along the way.
Together,
