Introduction
With web3con wrapped up, naturally the DAO will be a little quiet for a bit, right? INCORRECT! We’re busy buidling as much as ever and Probably Nothing is here to get you up to speed. For starters, Coordinape is the talk of the town, multiple DAO projects are full-steam ahead, and you can now rep D_D IRL with hoodies from our friends at Meta Factory (70% of profits go to the DAO treasury). This Week
The much anticipated (and hotly debated) Coordinape Circle
Last week, our D_D Coordinape circle for rewarding early D_D contributors kicked off and we’re on track to be the biggest circle Coordinape has ever hosted (the folks at Coordinape might call it a stress test ;D). It’s exciting to see contributors receiving thanks and love from our DAO members and the nomination of undervalued contributors is showing promise as well. The early results seem encouraging but the process has not been without hiccups.
Although we are still committed to a democratic process, one major concern has become a reality: Influencers and other people who minted NFT’s, but have not participated in DAO activities are distorting the vote. In some cases there is strong evidence of quid-pro-quo voting. In other cases, members have stated that they are not familiar with who has contributed and are concentrating votes among very few recipients; There is extensive conversation underway in 💬coordinape-discussion towards making sure our contributors are recognized for their hard work. Action will likely be taken after the vote is closed to address any gaming of the system and work towards the ultimate goal of the exercise: accurate recognition of contributions to the DAO.
One very positive outcome of the discussion: new efforts are underway towards bridging language barriers. Chinese-speaking members of the community shared some of the challenges they face participating in conversations that mostly take place on Discord (firewalled for many users) and mostly in English. Bilingual members have stepped up to help translate the DAO wiki and find other ways to encourage participation by our sinophone members.
In the meantime, the Coordinape circle has been extended to March 17th to leave time for addressing these issues. Guidelines for voting can be found here. We only suggest voting if you are familiar with the activities of the DAO, to the point of being able to recognize at least 10 members for their contributions. If you’re having trouble remembering who did what, you are welcome to reference this (growing) list of members nominated in 🎤coordinape-nominations.
